A series of community meetings scheduled recently points to the fact that Dalhousie is experiencing a rise in the number of developments and in many cases the planned density of those developments. The Dalhousie Community Association (DCA) Board of Directors, made up entirely of community minded volunteers, oversees a planning and development subcommittee that looks at the development proposals and, where appropriate, provides feedback to the City of Calgary departments that regulate the issuance of permits. In an effort to provide more information to more residents more quickly, the DCA now posts development information on our website here: dalhousiecalgary.ca/developments.

It is interesting to note that Dalhousie was recently named by Avenue Magazine as the third best community in Calgary out of over 150 communities. The article mentions a wealth of green spaces, roadway links to downtown as well as transit links and proximity to Nose Hill Park. Wrapping up the article Avenue states “Dalhousie’s strong suit is its community engagement.”

It’s this strong community engagement and other factors like high property values that attract developers to the area. If you would like to know more about planned developments in Dalhousie, a trip to The DCA website is a great place to start. If you would like to be a part of the planning and development that will redefine Dalhousie as it enters its next 50 years, contact the Dalhousie Community Association to learn more about what is involved.
